About – how we can help/what to expect

Our experienced mediators can provide support either in house, at our local office in Shropshire or remotely.

Before any mediation takes place we will assess if the situation is suitable for mediation. The key components are the willingness of each party to engage as the process is voluntary, the subject matter.

Workplace mediation normally takes a full day depending on the issues raised.

Prior to the sessions the participants are asked to sign an Agreement to mediate. The agreement outlines the mediation process and their agreement to the parameters. Each participant will receive a copy before the process begins.

Stage 1 - Individual Sessions

The mediator will speak privately with each individual to listen to concerns, understand what the person wants from the process and answer any initial questions.

Stage 2 – Joint Session

The joint session allows each party to speak openly, honestly and respectfully about how they feel and to listen carefully to what the other party has to say. The discussion then moves onto identifying key issues to work on followed by meaningful discussion aimed at moving forward and finding mutually acceptable solutions.

Stage 2 – Follow Up Meeting

A few weeks later a follow up meeting to check in how agreements are working.

Following the workplace mediation a brief process statement will be given to the referrer detailing names of those attending, dates of meetings and whether resolution was reached or not. No details of the mediation itself are given.
